19-07-2012: Roze Voorloper Award goes to Workplace Pride

Workplace Pride is the proud recipient of the 2012 Roze Voorloper award which was presented by the Mayor of Nijmegen, Drs. H.M.F. Bruls yesterday during the Roze Woensdag festivities in the city of Nijmegen. Dutch for "Pink Front Runner", the Roze Voorloper singles out those organizations or individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to the acceptance of homosexuality in society. 

Workplace Pride won the award due to its concerted and public efforts to include the message of acceptance for LGBT people in working environments. "For several years, Workplace Pride has been setting the standard in Europe for LGBT working people, and we felt that this deserves recognition" said Sander Ederveen, Organizer of Roze Woensdag. "This is also a special honor, given that this was the 10th anniversary of Roze Woensdag" continued Ederveen. 

The actual award is created each year by a local artist. This year's award symbollizes LGBT at work through its use of the office supplies in the form of a "V" which are attached to the symbolic pink triange.
